Zach Mate is a rising professional golfer from Elk Grove, California, pursuing his ultimate goal of competing on the PGA Tour. Following a standout NCAA Division I career at Sacramento State, Zach enters the professional circuit backed by elite ball-striking, a steady demeanor under pressure, and a proven track record of competitive excellence.
Growing up in Northern California and developing his game out of Valley Hi Country Club, Zach built his approach on discipline, precise iron play, and an aggressive yet calculated course strategy. As a leader for the Sacramento State program, he earned First-Team All-Big Sky honors, secured multiple top-10 finishes against elite DI fields, and etched his name into the university's historic record books—finishing top 3 all-time for career rounds at or below par.
Now competing on the professional stage, Zach is focused on climbing the ranks of the developmental tours. He is currently accepting inquiries for corporate sponsorships, pro-am appearances, and brand partnerships as he represents the next generation of professional golf.
Career Milestones & Achievements
All-Conference Honors: First Team All-Big Sky selection and multi-time All-Conference honoree.
All-Time Record Holder: Finished his collegiate career tied for 3rd in school history for most rounds at or below par (45) and tied for 5th all-time in career rounds in the 60s (14).
Elite Scoring Baseline: Closed his collegiate tenure with an impressive 73.42 career scoring average, placing him 9th all-time in program history. His sophomore season scoring average (72.59) ranks as one of the top single-season marks ever recorded for the Hornets.
Low Career Rounds: Fired career-low competitive rounds of 65 (-6) at both the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate and the Palouse Collegiate, proving an elite ability to generate scoring streaks.
Top Finishes: Carded a career-best 54-hole total of 205 at Ka'anapali (tied for the 6th-lowest 3-round total in school history) and secured numerous top-10 finishes against highly competitive DI fields, including the Big Sky Championship, Bandon Dunes Championship, and the El Macero Classic.
